Riyadh: Saudi Arabia has announced a major investment of over SR3.5 billion ($932 million) to develop 17 tourism projects in Al-Ahsa, with the aim of making the region a key destination for both domestic and international visitors. This commitment was revealed by Tourism Minister Ahmed Al-Khateeb during a meeting with investors as part of his ongoing tour across the Kingdom. The planned developments will provide more than 1,800 new hotel rooms and leverage Al-Ahsa's rich natural beauty and cultural assets. This initiative aligns with Saudi Arabia’s broader National Tourism Strategy, which aims to attract 150 million visitors annually by 2030 and boost tourism’s contribution to the country’s GDP from 6 percent to 10 percent.
Al-Khateeb also highlighted the opportunities for private sector investment in these projects, emphasizing the Ministry’s commitment to supporting the growth of the tourism infrastructure. As part of his visit, the minister toured the SR200 million Radisson Blu Hotel in Al-Ahsa, which exemplifies the high standard of luxury and cultural integration envisioned for future developments in the region.
